Another green and happy client! Architecture + Engineering Innovations provided structural and electrical engineering for Foxchase Golf Course in Stevens, PA, who launched their new solar system on August 4th.
And their going green is earning green - the new solar system earned a Federal Renewable Tax Credit of 30% - about $545,000 of the project's cost. Plus, in its first day of operation, the solar panels produced extra kilowatts of electricity - which means they sell back the excess kilowatts to their utility company.
How does an engineer help with this kind of solar installation?
- Develop engineered drawings to meet the National Electrical Code.
- Survey the site and layout the panels to streamline installation and maximize solar exposure.
- Coordination with the electric utility company for installation and connection requirements for interactive PV systems.
- Prepare technical specifications of materials, equipment and installation of the electrical systems to interface the D.C. solar generation with the utility connection, and connection to the on-site electrical system.
